a BIG Splash

First impressions matter and in a BIG Splash, it couldn’t be more true . . . or false?   This play explores how we’re fooled by appearances, sometimes focusing on quick judgments.

A Big Splash - The Team

  • Born a city girl from Calgary, Sylvan Lake has very happily been home to Norene for 55 years.  She volunteers with Sylvan Lake Archives, as President, as well as researching and writing a weekly Facebook history post. Norene became involved with Sylvan Lake Theatre while working on Theatre Trail 2022 research at the Archives. A perfect pairing began. With SLT, she is an Artistic Producer (Storytelling) as well as the full-time marketer/designer. Loving all things Theatre, in addition to storytelling, Norene has taken classes in playwriting and acting and her debut play a BIG Splash was selected for 2025 Theatre Trail. Her supporting cast is her family, friends and her dogs. This will be Norene’s fourth Theatre Trail.

  • Jerry is a dynamic storyteller skilled in writing, acting, and filmmaking. He authored A Good Man’s Crux:The Yoruba Princess, and Iron Blood, the first in his dystopian subisolation series. A Red Deer Polytechnic–certified filmmaker, he blends technical skill with bold creativity. On stage, Lambert has starred in Riverona (Prime Stock Theatre), Romeo and Juliet (Bard on Bower), and the Sylvan Lake Theatre Trail. His quirky charm and wild facial expressions energize every role. Whether crafting stories or performing live, Lambert infuses each project with intensity, imagination, and his signature spark.

  • Hailey is a passionate performer and multi-talented creative based in Red Deer, Alberta. With roots in musical theatre and one-act plays, Hailey returned to the stage after years of working as a hairstylist, makeup artist, and co-owner of The Hot Tub Man. She recently performed with Bullskit Comedy and appeared in The Spotlight Within with Remy Film Studios. Dedicated to her growth as an actor, she brings heart, depth, and humor to every role. Offstage, Hailey is a healer, entrepreneur, and lifelong learner who blends artistic expression with embodiment and empowerment in all areas of her life.

  • Robyn Jeffrey has been focused on storytelling all her life. After drama classes in middle and high school, she graduated from Red Deer College’s Theatre Performance and Creation and Motion Picture Arts programs with an Applied Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. She has a passion and expertise in working with kids, whether it be teaching or performing. After directing random music videos as a teen, she has broken into theatre directing for the first time since college, co-directing last year’s Christmas at Pemberley with Central Alberta Theatre and receiving the Outstanding Direction award at the Heartland One Act Festival for her production of The Boor. She is very excited to direct for the Sylvan Lake Theatre Trail for the first time.

  • Growing up dreaming of working with animals in film, Mette graduated from the theatre production and film production programs at RDP. Making a career change, she became a zookeeper, and then a dairy farmer. Still an avid theatre lover, she attended many plays and musicals. In recent years, she dove back into the theatre world herself. Mette worked on the lighting/sound crew for Ethan Claymore & And Then There Were None with the Innisfail Town Theatre, while also helping out in the Red Deer theatre scene. She looks forward to the journey back to the stage (behind the scenes) on the Theatre Trail as the stage manager of -a BIG Splash.
