OVERVIEW
Plays are to be 15-minutes maximum. (That’s 7-8 pages following the provided script format). Theatre Trail plays are site-specific* theatre experiences. The chosen location, a Sylvan Lake shop or business, is the setting and impacts the events of the play to create a unique experience for the audience. Playwrights are encouraged to include Sylvan Lake themes, environment or history (fact or fiction!) if it works for the play.
TIPS
From regional playwrights on writing site-specific plays.
Develop an organic plot that could realistically happen in the chosen space with characters you could expect to find there. (or not!)
Incorporate the infrastructure that is part of the site as a necessary element to the play and reference props or set pieces that would normally be found at the site.
Treat the location like a character in the story you are telling.
Ultimately, a well-crafted play is the most important factor.
Please read the rules, guidelines, and script format before submitting your play.
