THEATRE TRAIL AUDITIONS‍ ‍

Every year Sylvan Lake Theatre (SLT) puts out a call for Trail actors. Even if you have done an SLT show previously, not all Trail directors may be familiar with your work.

Audition Date and Place‍ ‍

July 22, 2026 15-minute audition slots between 6:00-9:00 p.m. Memorial Presbyterian Church 5020-48 Street Sylvan Lake . Parking is free in the Church parking lot but not on the street.‍ ‍

At the Audition

Please present a fully memorized, one-minute monologue (not a soliloquy) that is from a play and not a screenplay. Ideally, the character you are playing is speaking to another character, with equal stakes. After you have presented your monologue, the director(s) may want to work with you on the monologue and/or have you read from one of the plays. All the Theatre Trail plays are a mix of drama and comedy.

INCLUSIVE CASTING

Actors of all ethnicities, genders, including trans and non-binary, and physical abilities are encouraged to audition.

Seeking 11 actors as follows-

Female presenting

  • Addison 18-25

  • Jill 30-40

  • Spirit 50-65

  • Bette 35-65

  • Dale 55-70

Male presenting:

  • Danny 18-35

  • Steve 18-35

  • Joel 28-48

  • Alphonse 50-65

Any Gender:

  • Andy/Andi 30-40

  • Danny/Dani 18-30

TIME COMMITMENT IF YOU ARE CAST-

PERFORMANCES: Theatre Trail runs Sept 12, 13, 19 & 20, 2026. Plan to be available from noon- 5 p.m. on each of those weekend afternoons though the average call is only 3 hours. The 15-minute plays are performed four times each afternoon.

REHEARSALS: Theatre Trail rehearsals begin around mid-August and will run twice a week for a total of 10-12 hours depending on the readiness of the team and the demands of the play. Rehearsals are in Sylvan Lake.
